Marking and Reporting:
Teachers at participating schools mark their own learners’ scripts using standardised marking guidelines. These marking guidelines will be standardised at the IEB offices by a panel of Grade 6 teachers on 31 July
and posted on the IEB website on 2 August 2017
. The deadline for all the marked scripts to be sent to the IEB for moderation is 8 September 2017
The IEB will provide feedback to participating schools about the achievement of their learners as well as about the school’s performance in relation to the full sample of participating schools. The IEB will also provide an overall report on the performance of learners across various aspects of the test. Schools will receive their results in November.
Schools that are new to the Core Skills Test are encouraged to mark their scripts in collaboration with a neighbouring school that has participated in the test before so that they have assistance in interpreting the marking guidelines. Contact details of neighbouring schools writing the test can be obtained by emaling Michele Botha
The IEB offers two customised workshops for schools; one that facilitates the marking of their learners’ scripts and another that deals with the interpretation of the school’s results to inform curriculum design and delivery. Michele Botha can be contacted for further information regarding these workshops.
