All schools that write the IEB examinations are entitled to belong to the User Group Forums. The User Groups provide a networking system for teachers in their subjects. The national User Group Conferences take place in February each year. The IEB considers the proposals from the User Groups as the basis for changes in their process of assessment and moderation.
The main objectives of the User Groups are to:
Advise and consult with the IEB, both on matters referred to the groups by the Board and on issues raised by the groups for consideration by the IEB
Involve teachers in all aspects of the assessment process and ensure that learning goals and assessment criteria are clearly defined by the User Groups in conjunction with the IEB
Promote the professional development of teachers in user schools, in relation to curriculum, assessment and teaching methodology
Create opportunities for school-based action research, development, and continuous assessment practices to inform IEB decision-making
