AET Levels 1 - 3
AET Levels 1 – 3 are seen as entry levels to the General Education and Training Certificate (GETC) for adult learners. The IEB offers National Examinations at AET Levels 1 – 3 twice a year in June and November in Communication in English* and Numeracy in English*, with additional Exams on Request (EOR) available in February, March and September. This assessment involves a written summative assessment.
Each learner receives a Statement of Results, while Examiners' Reports, for national examinations, are provided to centres to help them identify common errors or misconceptions and adjust their facilitation methods accordingly.

Placement Assessments
To ensure the effectiveness of the learning process, it is recommended that the centre correctly identifies each learner’s entry level before beginning the AET programme. To facilitate this, the IEB offers placement assessment aligned to the exit level of the applicable unit standards.
