The Independent Examinations Board (IEB) is an independent assessment body based in South Africa, offering South African and international school-leaving qualifications.
The IEB conducts assessment for schooling and adult education. It is quality assured by Umalusi – Quality Council for General and Further Education and Training – to offer the National Senior Certificate (NSC) and the adult General Education and Training (GETC) qualifications. The IEB offers its newly launched qualification, the International Secondary Certificate (ISC), to schools outside the borders of South Africa. The ISC is quality assured by the Stellenbosch University’s Unit for International Credentialing (SU-UIC).
This Annual Report highlights the main achievements in the work of the IEB during the reporting year. This enables us to look back and identify areas that need strengthening, and gaps that may still exist.
